Jumping in to the Blog World (from the High Board!)

Well goodness, the pressure is enormous, but I must respond to my fans. It is sure lots less stress to be clever in two sentence comments than to come up with whole paragraphs, but I will try...as skilled as I no doubt seem to be to all of you, this computer business is pretty intimidating. For instance, the log in part, believe it or not. JB fixed up a tab for me to go directly into the blog...we know it works because he has done it pretending to be me so many times! However, when the threats started coming of a strike from my blogger daughters, I knew I had to act and could not for the life of me come up with a combination of User and Password which it recognized! So frustrating! So I called Uncle Jimmy at work and he told me another way to get in, and, voila, here I am! But for the pictures of the home redecoration (rearranging, more precisely), I have not a clue as to how to move pix from camera to blog...I am sure assistance will come.

This is a busy week in Goode Land. Tomorrow we move Veevsie back to Abilene but will be back in the Branch by evening, I'm thinking. Early Friday morning we are to leave for Manitou Springs, CO, to attend our niece Holly Goode's wedding to David Locke. (Thanks, Holly for a chance for a summer trip to Colorado!!) But with Val in Abilene, who would care for the pup?? I had emailed the world's best neighbor, who walks our dog nightly, brings her treats, etc, to offer the honor of long term pet care, but had not heard from her. So, alas, I called the vet about boarding this weekend and got Bagel a space there, and while I had her on the phone I asked if we could also leave the Bagel for Labor Day weekend, as we will be trekking to Tucson to deliver Catherine's worldly goods to her new apt. (Thanks, Cath, for the summer trip to AZ!!)

Well, the young lady chortled in my ear and remarked as how they had been booked a month and a half for the holiday weekend! I suddenly sensed a need to make some calls on Bagel's behalf. About the fourth call...I was now in the phone book looking for any place in or near my zipcode...I found an inviting- sounding place in Carrollton and they did have space. However, they have an interview process to be sure the pup is "socialized," so I also faced the prospect that my pup would not make the cut! But worse, if she did make the cut, she would never want to come back home because the place is so luxurious. Something about bedtime music, dvds and art work...this place is puppy heaven. The lady there told me to print out the application and bring it in with her shot record when we come for intro time! Well, the form asked for an emergency contact and who but the world's best neighbor, could I put?? But though it is embarrassing to admit, I don't have her phone #. So I emailed her again and admitted I had written her name in ink on the form but needed her phone # to complete it. Seconds after I hit Send, the phone rang and she said, "Why are you doing this? I already have Bagel on my calendar for both weekends and I want to do it!" I said I never had heard back and assumed she was out of the country on assignment...Don't know what happened, but needless to say, she will get the privilege of Bagel's company and JB will save countless thousands on boarding fees! Life is good...very goode.

Would like to go on record that this little experiment only lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. If only I had known it was this easy to get you to post, I would've threatened a month ago. Take advantage of Veeves being there - I bet she could get a picture from the camera to the blog - she's almost an alum!
And hurrah for Katie checking her email, but I'm dissapointed I won't hear about the adventures at the Puppy Spa.

OH MY GOODNESS...a puppy spa...you must NEVER tell the Jeffrey dogs about such a place...we figured out several years ago...I actually figured out sitting in the vets office listening to conversations between man and beast that all did was like our dogs...it was not a love relationship...Vick you heart is sooooo tender...MJ's philosophy is suzy they are dogs...meant by the Lord to live out doors...he puts a nice pile of dogfood in their house...yes in their house in case it rains...fills a LARGE water pan and we hit the road...I will tell you at some point in the future about my friend who ended up spending HUNDREDS of dollars at the vet on a dog...that had jumped in their car at the mall and wouldn't get out...three weeks later...its such a good story...I have to get ready to to go a meeting at RHCC!!! blessing to all the goodes...keep up the goode words vick...you may inspire me!!!sj

amen to SJ's words and the sound resemblance to my fathers philosophy on dogs... how funny. Needless to say, I am quite relieved that bagel wasn't able to go to the doggy spa because I do not honestly believe that she would have passed to initial test of socializing.
But, congrats to you mom for entering the wonderful word of blogging! I am so proud... so proud! Love you! And thanks for all the traveling around ya'll are doing for your family!! We all deeply deeply deeply appreciate it!
